Snohomish is one of those towns where the drive in tells you everything about the cars. You've got SR-9 bringing highway grime from both directions, the Snohomish River keeping things muddy through spring, and the surrounding farmland kicking up dust all summer. Gravel turnoffs, logging roads, Bickford Avenue, Snohomish cars earn their dirt.

There aren't many detail shops that actually come out to the rural properties or the river valley. Most people are driving down into Everett just to get a car cleaned, which is a lot of hassle for something that should be easy. I'm Mikey, I come to you. October is its own season here. Families from all over the county drive out to the valley pumpkin patches and corn mazes, park on a wet field, and bring the field home in the wheel wells and on every floor mat. That mud dries hard along the rocker panels and grinds into the carpet the first time somebody climbs in wearing boots. It all comes out, but it comes out a lot easier the same week than it does in December.

Then there's the river. When the Snohomish and the Pilchuck come up in winter, the valley roads go under, and for days after the water drops they're coated in silt that ends up packed into the underside, the wheel wells and around the brakes. Rinse the undercarriage that week, and if water got onto the floor, get it extracted before it starts to smell.
